LaSalle College Vancouver – LAB Renovation

Type:      Tenant Improvement (T.I.), Institutional Campus

Languages Across Boarders is an English language school that offers instruction as well as opportunities for students to gather and socialize in English. In this tenant fit out design, that social space is the hub where students naturally congregate to lounge, play foosball and grab a coffee. Rather than just storing coffee cups in a cupboard, TOAD designed a custom piece of furniture for storing mugs that encloses a private space where students can practice their English in a more private setting, giving students a diversity of socialization options.

This newly renovated space for Languages Across Borders occupies a building slated for demolition in the next two years. Rather than invest in traditional construction to fit out the space, the school opted for furniture and systems that could be moved to the new campus once it’s complete. This includes the glass walls and doors enclosing the classrooms, which are able to be demounted and reinstalled in a new location with zero waste.
