Quesnel ADU’s

type:          residential
year:          2022
place:        quesnel, bc

ADU stands for an Accessory Dwelling Unit, colloquially these structures are known as Laneway Homes, Coach Houses, Carriage Homes & Granny Flats. By definition they are accessory or secondary to the main house and so exist on single-family house lots where the zoning allows. We’ve had some experience with laneway homes in different municipalities, and were asked by the city of Quesnel to help them address their housing shortage.

The city has taken the initiative to have five designs be pre-approved and ready to build.  After having a meeting with the city, the home owners can walk out with a set of drawings and begin to build.

The five designs we’ve come up with achieve different goals and provide a diverse choice of housing options. 2 Carriage Homes  provide attached garages for folks who prefer to maintain some garage space. And 3 Coach Homes provide lofty spaces , not usually characteristic of single-family homes. We’re excited for these to begin to pop up across the city and Cariboo region over the next few years.
